Yummy and Festive Gingerbread Bar Recipe
Nothing else tastes like Christmas to me as much as these gingerbread bars do.
Usually, I hold off making them as long as I can during the holidays… (they’re very addictive), but this year feels extra festive, so here’s the recipe so that you can enjoy them, too!
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Beat these four ingredients until smooth:
3/4 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup molasses
Stir the following ingredients and add to the mixture:
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3/4 teaspoon ground ginger
3/4 teaspoon ground cloves
Press into an 18x13 baking sheet. To help spread, dip fingers in flour and press to edges.
Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes until golden (do not over bake).
Let the bars cool completely. Once cool, frost with cream cheese frosting, and finish with red and green sprinkles.
